The
Strategic mission of the ICTWAY 2003 project is to use Information and
Communication Technology (ICT) as the driver for economic development
and wealth creation in Romania. This project has several underlying
assumptions:
- The core competencies will reside in Romania.
- Innovation is defined locally: the benchmark of new ICT technology is
whether it is new to Romania, not to the U. S. or Western Europe.
- The primary outcome will be sustainability and growth.
The intent of ICTWAY 2003 project is to position the participating
incubators as hubs of knowledge, expertise, and capabilities, to foster
the growth of Romanian ICT-based ventures and diffusion of ICT to a
wide range of SMEs in Romania.
Our goal is to empower current and new entrepreneurs, to enable them to
increase and improve their quality of life, and to make them more
productive to the benefit of Romania. We will do this through a
systematic approach that draws on local talent and innovation and that
keeps these professionals in the country as productive models for
Romania’s youth.
The
objectives of the project are to:
- Develop programs and mechanisms that foster and encourage the
establishment and incubation of start-ups based on ICT developed in
Romanian universities and research institutions.
- Improve the capabilities of participating incubators to facilitate
the development and expansion of ICT-based ventures
- Assist existing and new SMEs in participating incubators to develop
and integrate ICT solutions into their operations so they can become
more effective and competitive
- Assist companies in the broader population of Romania to share in the
benefits that the use of ICT can offer
- Diffuse the use of ICT to new sectors
- Create and improve networks in key areas that support these
activities, such as science and technology, entrepreneurship, funding,
other incubators, and strategic alliances that can link to other,
similar networks in the region and around the globe |
